JANK has quickly risen out of the Philadelphia DIY basement music scene. While the band certainly has a deep-rooted connection to the often raw-stripped down emotional core of that scene, one listen to the band’s debut full-length, “Awkward Pop Songs,” displays an extremely frantic and more technical take on the general “emo” music scene of today. The band pushes the boundaries of what we’ve come to expect from this scene, while still appealing to every listener emotionally. Awkward Pop Songs is a roller coaster ride of a full-length that never bores and never really cares to be anything but different.
