Description
The Golden Showers formed in Berlin during 1993 and were active with different line-ups in Germany playing shows with many bands including The Chrome Cranks, Doo Rag, the Blues Explosion, and the Make-Up. They made their U.S. debut in July of 1997 on their now infamous Texas tour, opening for Turbonegro and preforming the legendary dildo shows. In February 1998 they were flown back to Berlin to appear in a major movie production entitled “Greedy”, whose director had also used The Golden Showers’ music in his previous film, ”Sylvester Countdown”. Then it was back to the U.S. for shows in New York, Baltimore, and D.C. with Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, the Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black, Andre Williams, and James Chance and the Contortions.
This album was recorded at New York’s Funhouse Studio by Jerry Teel (Honeymoon Killers, Chrome Cranks) and is best described as bluesy porn trash noise, an effective blend of Pussy Galore, the Stooges, the Cramps, and a complete lack of restraint. Live, they infect the crowd with their shamelessly entertaining hedonism and pure provocation.
